Shagena, Wencil Jacob (Shag) passed away February 22, 2013 after an extended illness at the age of 93. Beloved father of Rita Wencel (James) and Renae Shagena; beloved grandfather of Jimmy Wencel, John Wencel, Nikki Wencel, and Holly Luft (Jason); beloved uncle of Jerry Shagena, Donald Shagena, Jack Shagena, Marlene Kritzman (Hank), and Carol England; beloved friend of Vera Shagena. Mr. Shagena was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Sarah (Litt), and brothers Cyril Shagena, Jerry Shagena, and Francis Shagena. $0 $0 Mr. Shagena retired after 33 years from Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors Corporation where he worked as a polisher. He was an army veteran of WWII, stationed in the Philippines as a cook. Born in Argyle, MI, Mr. Shagena settled in Oxford after the war where he lived until his death. He was a member of American Legion Walter Frasier Post 108 for 49 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger days. After his retirement, he enjoyed walking and taking his shared dog Sparky for car rides, sitting outside of his home and playing the lottery.$0 $0 Funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, Monday February 25, 2013 at 11:30 AM (visitation starting at 10:30). Father Stephen Pullis officiating. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery in Oxford with military honors provided. Family and friends may visit Sunday, February 24th from 2-8 PM with a service provided by the Oxford American Legion Post #108 at 7 PM. $0 $0 Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.$0
