Thomas E. Benner of Oxford, MI passed away January 15, 2013 at age 73. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Marilyn; adored son Alan and treasured grandchildren James and Jenna. He was welcomed into Heaven by his cherished daughter Cheri. Also preceded in death by parents Carl and Veronica Benner, brothers Carl and Bob Benner and sisters Helen Hunt and Norma Hoey.
Survived by brother Harold Benner, sisters Jean (Gilbert) Mroz and Pat (Don) Fick along with many dear nieces and nephews. He was a construction operator for 38 years and served the Oxford Village Council for over 10 years, including as Village President. Thomas had served on the village council since April 2005 and became president in September 2011. Prior to that, he was a councilman from 1995-98. During retirement he operated Tom's Dozing, a land grating and driveway repair business.
Funeral from Christ the King Church, 1550 W. Drahner, Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11 AM with visitation starting at the church at 10 AM. Pastor Bob Holt officiating. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery, Oxford. Family and friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, Friday January 18th from 1-8 PM. Memorials may be made to K9 Stray Rescue League, 2120 Metamora Rd, Oxford.
