Thelma Letha Richert, age 89 of Oxford, formerly of Pontiac, born July 28, 1920 in Pontiac, Went to be with the lord and many loved ones on: December 8, 2009
Before her fight with Alzheimer’s Thelma loved to crochet, travel, crossword puzzles, play cards, yahtzee and spending time with her large family. She was also very proud to be a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church of Lake Orion.
After her decline in health led to full time care, she was fortunate enough to reside at Sunrise Assisted Living of Clarkston, where they gave her the best, most loving care until the end. The family is also so very appreciative of the care she received from In Home Hospice Solutions. Thelma retired from the City Of Pontiac (treasure department) in 1982 where she had worked for over 20 years. Before her retirement she was involved with Pilot International Club.
Preceded in death by her husband of 67 years of marriage, Chet; her parents Robert and Susie Slade; her sons Raymond, PFC Ronald R. Richert (USMC); her daughters Grace Ann and Peggy along with Peggy’s husband David and their 2 children Tammy and David JR; also 3 other grand children, 27 year old Nicole Harper (Nikki), 10 yr old Richard Richert (Ricky) and 3 year old Thor Richert. Also with the Lord are her siblings Herbert, Kenneth (Earl), Audrey and Mary; Brothers-in-law Frank Domke, Burton Stevens and Everette Korn.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Lorraine Trombley of Grosse Isle, MI. Brother-in-law Clint (Jim) Smith of Franklin, N.C., siblings Marjorie Domke of W. Monroe, LA., Howard (Dorothy) Bowman of Bay Minette, Al, Beverly Korn of W. Monroe, LA, Sisters in law Shirley Bowman of San Jose, CA, Zenobia Bowman of Pontiac brother in law James Smith of Carolina. Also survived and very missed by her children Robert (Carleen) of Flint, Joanne (Martin) of Ridgway,IL. Robin (Theresa) of Brandon, Richard (Carol) of Waterford, and Phyllis (Dwayne) of Ridgway, IL. Sadly Thelma also left 26 Grandchildren, 32 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild and Numerous other friends and relatives.
Officiated by Pastor Kenneth Sharp (retired) Funeral to be held at New Beginnings Baptist Church 985 N. Lapeer rd. (Orion Twp.) Friday December 11, 2009 at 2 PM. Friends may gather at the church beginning at 12 noon.
Interment at Ridgelawn Cemetery. Friends may also gather for visitation at the church Thursday from 4-9 PM (No public activity will be taking place at the funeral home). Donations made to Alzheimer’s Association would be greatly appreciated.
