Ruth Marie Gruenberg, 77, of Rotonda West, Florida passed away from various complex medical conditions, March 27, 2012 with her husband by her side.
Ruth was born December 7, 1934, in Adrian, Michigan; the daughter of Leon F and Mary L (Swenk) Pierce. She graduated from Adrian High School with the Class of 1952. Ruth received her Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University in 1956 and was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.
On June 21, 1958, at the Adrian Methodist Church, Ruth married Ernest Gruenberg of Newaygo, Michigan, her loving husband of more than 53 years.
Ruth Marie Gruenberg lived in Oxford, Michigan for over 40 years. Ruth was a Kindergarten/First Grade Teacher in the Oxford Community School System. She taught in Lakeville, Leonard and ended her teaching career at Clear Lake Elementary as a First Grade Teacher. She began her teaching career in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Ruth was a local Political Office Coordinator for Senator Mat Dunaskiss, of Lake Orion, Michigan for more than ten years.
Ruth was an active member of the Oxford United Methodist Church and enjoyed participating in their Vocal and Bell Choirs. She also liked to sew and make quilts.
In addition to her husband, Ernest, Ruth is survived by two sons, Christopher (Sharon) Gruenberg, and Mitchell Gruenberg, both of Oxford.
Ruth is also survived by three Grandchildren Adam (Megan) Gruenberg of Chesterfield, Michigan and Aaron Gruenberg of Graeagle, California and Melissa Walker of Chicago, Illinois and one great grandchild, Kinley Marie Gruenberg of Chesterfield, Michigan. She is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews in the US and Canada.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; Robert (Midge) Pierce, Dixon, TN James (Doris) Pierce, Adrian, MI and daughter in law Karen (Perry) Gruenberg.
Funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, Monday, April 2, 2012 at 11 AM. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home Sunday from 4-8 PM and Monday from 10 AM until time of service. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery, Oxford.
Memorials may be made to the Oxford Methodist Church, 21 East Burdick Street, Oxford, MI.
