Obituary for Richard "Dick" Craun

Richard ("Dick") David Craun, born January 6, 1936, quietly went home to be with the Lord on April 6, 2016. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Beverly Craun (Hartwick) and a loving father to Russell Craun, Michele Craun, and Shari Barker (Keith). A devoted and doting grandfather to Heidi Craun, Lathe Carrow (Britney), Michael Barker, Lauren Carrow Hendrick (Joshua), Cody Barker, and Dustin Carrow, Dick also enjoyed the blessing of having great-grandsons, Aayden, Gage, and Emmitt Carrow. He is missed by them all, including his sisters Margaret ("Peg") Walters and Doras Hucal, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Dick attended Avondale High School in Auburn Heights, where he made many lifelong friends and met the love of his life, Beverly. After graduating high school, they married, and Dick left soon after to serve our country in the Korean War. After returning home, Dick attended college and joined General Motors as a pipe fitter, where he worked for more than 30 years. Later in his career, he served for the UAW. He enjoyed many hobbies, including attending church, listening to music, singing in choir, camping, traveling, swimming, golfing, and bowling. And as anyone who knew Dick knows, he always enjoyed a good meal. Most of all, though, Dick will be remembered for his unending love of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Adeline Craun, as well as his brother, Robert Craun.

The family will gather with loved ones at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 12-4 PM and will celebrate his life in a veteran's memorial service at Great Lakes National Cemetery on a date that is currently pending..
