Obituary for Richard Cole

Richard Wayne Cole, age 68, born June 20, 1947 and passed away April 10, 2016 at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland in Pontiac, comforted by his wife and surrounded by his immediate family. He grew up in Royal Oak and currently lived in Lake Orion, Michigan, where he raised his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, George David Cole (86) and his brother, Grant Cole (16).
Survived by his mother: Rita Loyola Cole (91), beloved wife of 38 years, Laura "Lynn" Cole, daughter Erika Lynn Cole, daughter Laura Ann Cole, and son-in-law and best friend Aaron Michael Clark. Also survived by his loving pets Rosey and Ace Cole.

Nicknamed "Sweet Daddy" and "Rick", he was a proud entrepreneur and owner of C & C Machine Tool Inc of Lake Orion MI for 35 plus years and formally of Royal Oak MI where he specialized in Quality Machining & Fabrication Services, serving the industrial, commercial and agricultural industries.

He was hardworking, very outgoing, ambitious and an honest entrepreneur and employer who loved all of his employees and co-workers as well as business associates and those he did business with on a daily basis. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Oxford Post 108, Sons of the American Legion Lake Orion Post 233, "Harry's Place" and a member of the Federal Order of the Eagles in Lake Orion. He Loved his American Legion "Brothers".

He enjoyed riding in his boat on Lake Orion with family and friends. His pride and joy was his 1967 GTO. His favorite day of the week was Sunday, which he spent crusin' in his GTO with his family, making rounds to see all of his friends and go to some of his favorite local places; followed by Sunday family dinner. Every Sunday he shared family dinner with those he loved; however everyday for Richard was Family Day. Family was what mattered most to him and his family was together everyday and made amazing memories everyday of the week.

He loved fishing on Indianwood Lake with his son-in-law and friends, his favorite thing to do was crusing, relaxing and listening to Classical Rock; some of his favorites: The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty.

He loved traveling but loved to also stay close to home. He loved crusing Woodward Ave. and crusing up to Lake Nepessing in Lapeer. His favorite family vacation spots were Caseville, MI and Port Austin, MI where he enjoyed going to the Cheeseburger Festival and seeing friends, or renting a cabin for a week to enjoy time with his family; Traverse City enjoying many family vacations to celebrate birthdays and fall get a-ways and visiting the extended families Winery "Brys Estates"; and Fort Myers, Florida enjoying warm sunny days, see many friends and making many memories with his family on these trips.

Richard Filled a quite room with laughter, when hew walked into a room he lite it up with his warm, friendly, hilarious and happy personality. His smile and laughter brightened everyone's days, he made friends very easily and made people feel very comfortable with his sense of humor and ability to talk to anyone. He was honest, respectable, strong, compassionate, good natured and a leader of wisdom. He loved his wife and family more than anything and always put them first as well as making everyday about family.

A memorial celebration party for his life will be held and celebrated in June of 2016, this date will be announced by family members at a later date.

Richard was a very simple man that had all the things he wanted in his life that he felt were the most important. He had a life well lived and remembered.

Funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11 AM with visitation beginning at the funeral home at 10 AM. Interment Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley. Visitation will take place Thursday, April 14th from 3-8 PM. Memorials may be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
