Obituary for Randy Moreau

Randell John Moreau, “Randy” to most who new him, age 67 of Oxford, January 16-1942-January 16, 2009.
Survived by his beloved wife Kay Moreau; his loving children Peter (Laura), Charles, and Jason (Alison); grandchildren Riley, Elayna, Mallory, Jacob, Lucy and a new granddaughter expected in April; his siblings Calvin (Judy), Sandra (Mack Sullivan), Laurie Vermote and Charles (Emily); and preceded in death by his parents Mabel and Kenneth Moreau.

Randy was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He liked to joke that he moved to Lower Michigan to do Missionary Work.

He graduated from Gladstone High School, Bay de Noc Community College, and Northern Michigan University.

He began his teaching career at Brandon Schools in 1967 where he taught Woodshop and Drafting and Special Education his second year.

In 1969, he went to Oxford Schools where he taught Special Education for 7 years before returning to Wood Shop and Drafting. He also taught Driver's Education for several years and was faculty sponsor to SADD and VICA clubs. He retired from Oxford Schools in 1997, the same year "Garage Mahal" was built to house his newly acquired Model A.

After retirement, he continued employment at Creative Techniques in Lake Orion, and then Lamphere High School in Madison Heights.

Randy had been a member of the Oxford Lions Club for many years and held various positions including President. Randy was actively involved and served as Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 186 and served other duties with the Clinton Valley Council for many years.

After Lamphere, Randy focused his life on family, friends and his old cars. He looked forward to "Breakfast Club" each week at Tami's Grille. His smiling face and friendly demeanor will be missed by all who knew him.
Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors Bossardet Chapel, Oxford, Tuesday, January 20, 2009 from 3-6 PM with a funeral service then beginning at 6 PM. Monsignor John Budde will be officiating.

Memorials in Randy’s memory may be made to the Lions Club of Oxford (donations to the Lions Club can be mailed to the funeral home at 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, MI 48371 and will be given to Lions Club Secretary Jerry Griffin); the Leader Dogs for the Blind 1039 S. Rochester Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48307 or at; or The American Red Cross 100 Mack Avenue, Detroit, MI 48244 or at Randy’s family also noted that a memorial tribute in his name could be made by donating blood.
