Ralph Albertus Hoxie, II was born to Ralph and Loraine Hoxie in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan on August 15, 1944. Ralph died with his family near on August 11, 2011. He is survived by his beloved children Elizabeth, Rob (Catherine), and Ryan and grandchild Nikolai. Predeceased by his parents he is survived by siblings Doug (Cyndi), Fredricka Ann, Brian (Michele) and Michael (Kim) and many nieces and nephews. He leaves as friends ex-wives Leah Hoxie and Nancy Spencer.
Ralph-known as Chip- grew up in West Bloomfield where he nurtured his love of the land as a young entrepreneur with mowing and haying services, honey and cider production and a roadside stand to bring it to the public. Chip graduated from West Bloomfield High and later from Michigan State University with a BS in Agricultural Science. He spent a year in India with the International Farm Youth Exchange Program and then returned to Michigan to farm in several communities in the state. He also worked at Basic Service Corporation selling technical measuring devices.
His last farm was Green Hills Angus in Ubly, Michigan. Personal difficulties and then illness kept Ralph from the farm for many years but he never stopped believing that just a little more effort would make the farm of his dreams into reality. This was a man who would help you even when he had problems of his own and never would he disparage others as he went through life. We will miss him and his gentle way. Memorial service at Community of Christ Church, 5448 Shabonna Road on August 17 at 4:30 PM.
