Peter Robert Wandrie was born on February 13, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to Otto and Elizabeth Wandrie. He died September 14, 2013 at the age of 61. Mr. Wandrie is the beloved husband of 41 years to Genevieve (Rhodes) Wandrie. Loving father of Matthew (Christie), Stephen (Lynn), and Meghan. Wonderful grandfather to Thomas, Jonathan, Anna and Charles. Dear brother of 6, he is preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Wandrie was an active service veteran of the Vietnam conflict having proudly earned his Combat Infantryman's Badge. He was retired from the Detroit Police Department residing in Lapeer, MI. Mr. Wandrie was a faithful attendee of both Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lapeer and the St. Benedict Monastery in Oxford. He spent many years and affected the lives of hundreds of young boys as a volunteer football coach for the Lake Orion Lions football organization, and strength/conditioning coach for Lake Orion High School. Mr. Wandrie was among the original promoters and volunteers for the Orion Veteran Memorial project.
His courage and conviction, principled beliefs and fierce patriotism will forever serve as lifelong examples to us all as we continue to build a strong and unified nation under God's care.
Funeral from St. Joseph Catholic Church, 715 N. Lapeer Rd, Lake Orion, Friday, September 20, 2013 at 11 AM with visitation beginning at the church at 10 AM. Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, Wednesday, September 18th from 2-8 PM and Thursday, September 19th from 2-8 PM (Rosary at 7 PM).
