Paul Allan Phelps, age 65, of Oxford, passed away suddenly on August 4, 2009 from heart failure.
He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Phelps, his father-in-law Walter Graves and his sister Yolan Burda.
Mr. Phelps is survived by his mother, Margaret; wife, Pamela; sons Paul "Tony" (Lori), Preston (Rachel) and Matthew, of Oxford, Robert "Bob" (Lana), of Hadley, Ryan (Cindy) of Texas, and daughter Lisa, of Lake Orion; brothers, Brian (Drenda), Kenneth (Lynn), Lyle (Cathy), Donald (Mary), and sisters, Luellen, Diane, Marie (Ken) Jansen, Arlene (Bob) McNut, Ruth (Rodney) Rushlow, mother-in-law, Gladys Graves, and nine grandchildren.
He was a electrician by trade and loved the electrical and mechanical work he did. He had many pasttimes he enjoyed in his spare time. He played the violin, enjoyed hunting and fishing and opera. Mr. Phelps was raised in Mayville and graduated from Mayville High School before serving in the military as a sargent until he was discharged in 1966. He moved to Oxford shortly after marrying Pamela in 1968. He was a member of Christ the King Church.
Funeral service at Christ the King Church (1550 Drahner Rd., Oxford) Monday, August 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit Lynch & Sons Bossardet Chapel, Saturday, August 8 from 1:00 - 8:00 PM and Sunday, August 9 from 1:00 - 8:00 PM. Interment will be at Dayton Center Cemetery in Mayville, close to the 100 year old family farm. Memorials to the Christ the King Building Fund, 1550 W. Drahner, Oxford appreciated.
