GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Nadine Braniff, age 87 of Oxford, November 18, 1934-May 9, 2022. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Larry, and her daughter Peggy Lain. She is survived by her son Michael (Cynthia) Braniff and her daughter Nora Braniff. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Branden (Gretchen) Lain, Christina Lain, Kristin (David) Tyll, Trevor (Kristin) Braniff, Ashley Lawton and Kyle Lawton and one great grand-child, Sadie Braniff.
Nadine Carlyle Riley was born on November 18, 1934 in Metamora, Michigan. Her parents, L.D and Emily Maude Riley owned an egg farm on M-24. Her grandparents lived just down the road and she was blessed to spend much time with aunts, uncles and cousins. She always talked about how shy she was growing up but you would never have known it because she never met a stranger. She was open and loving with a smile that would light up the room.
She married Larry Braniff on October 3, 1964 and became Mother to his two children, Peggy and Michael. A year later Nora was born. They built their home in Oxford and raised their family.
In 1978 she went to work as the recording secretary for Oxford Township where she took the minutes for all official meetings for 17 years.
She was a strong political supporter and very patriotic. She volunteered packing care boxes for the organization Desert Angels for several years. She was a Red Hat lady.
When she retired, she and Larry spent 5 years traveling the world. She would tell the story about how, throughout their marriage, they would take any extra money at the end of each week and put it into a special account. They used those funds for their travels. When anyone asked her where her favorite place was her response was always “Home”.
She was a wonderful seamstress and made everything from Barbie clothes to reupholstered a couch. She was also very crafty and a gifted painter. She played the piano beautifully.
She loved dancing (the Jitterbug was her favorite), telling jokes, bowling, playing cards and throwing parties.
She has always said she wanted her tombstone to say… “She laughed along the way”
