Melvin Bailey of Oxford, passed away on June 16, 2012. He was 69. Mel was a 1961 graduate of Troy High School. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judy; two beloved daughters Valerie (Rick) Bullard and Loretta (Jeff) Leinberger, and one son Jason (Jill); and three darling grandchildren Caden Bailey 7, Savannah Bailey 5, and Annalise Bullard 2 1/2; and a sister Frances (Powell); as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his sister Mavis (Jack) Moore.
Mel helped his wife raise Golden Retrievers. Some became Leader Dogs of the Blind and Paws with the Cause service dogs. He also helped with the Lake Orion/Oxford CROP Walk.
Mel worked 41 years at Ford Motor Company. After his retirement he enjoyed traveling, cooking and being with friends and family, especially his three adorable grandchildren!
Funeral from Christ the King 1550 W. Drahner Rd, Oxford, Friday June 22 at 11 AM with a luncheon to follow immediately at the church. Friends may gather at the church beginning at 10:30 AM. Donations in Melvin Bailey's memory may be made to Leader Dog of the Blind or Church World Service (CROP Walk). Arrangements entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, Oxford.
