Obituary for Mary Lou Brooks

Mary Lou Mayer Brooks, understanding wife of Robert W. Brooks, selfless mother of Robert W. Brooks Jr. (Linda), Carolyn Brooks Brown (Mark), Gregory S. Brooks (Polly), and David A. Brooks (Dawn); and loving grandmother of thirteen grandchildren, was 76 years young when she passed away on April 23, 2009 .

Mary Lou was born in Pittsburgh , PA and attended Bucknell University . She graduated in 1954 with a tri-major in philosophy, psychology, and religion, which later proved to be a necessity in raising her family and being married to “the Geeze” for 54 years. Mary Lou was one of the three founders and president of Learning Resources Unlimited while living in Berea , OH . She and “the Geeze” retired from the company they built together as a team, Bob Brooks Computer Sales, in 1997.

Mary Lou’s gardens were the envy of her neighborhood and her culinary skills were unsurpassed. Her family and friends were blessed by her creative talents, handmade cards, and scrapbook memories. What Mary Lou loved most in life was spending time with her family and building traditions they will treasure forever.

The family request that instead of flowers, donations to honor her memory be sent to the National Wildlife Federation.
