Age 97 of Oxford passed peacefully at her home on October 15, 2009 surrounded by the ones who loved her. Mary was born in Durham, England on June 1, 1912. The daughter of the late Matilda and Samuel Blench. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Patrick Allan along with 4 brothers and 1 sister. Mary is survived by her special friend Carol Kessler and step granddaughter Karen Martin. She was a “Special Grandma” to Matthew, Mitchell, Megan and Jenna. Mary is also survived by her daughter Valerie Martin and her grand children Laura Traylor (nee Martin) and Scott Martin along with many great grandchildren. Mary was very fond of the Clarkston Specialty HealthCare Center for taking such good care of her. A special thanks to Patti (300 hall nurse) for all your love and care. Mary was a lifetime supporter and member of the Salvation Army. Her favorite things to do were bingo, cooking, traveling, reading and listening to her husband’s music. She retired from GM after many years of dedicated service. Mary will be remembered by everyone for her proper English accent and her attention to detail. Her indomitable spirit will be greatly missed.
A Memorial service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors Bossardet Chapel, 39 West Burdick, Oxford on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit Sunday from 1-3 PM. Memorials to the Salvation Army are appreciated.
