Louise Knox Hayward was born on April 17, 1917, in Ford, Washington. She grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended the University of Alabama, graduating in 1937. She married Edwin Jewett Hayward, at Woodlawn Methodist Church in 1940.
After her husband returned from serving overseas in World War II, they settled in Arlington, Virginia. While raising their family, Louise became active in Christ United Methodist Church. The two most important events of her spiritual life were her accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and being baptized in the Holy Spirit.
Louise and her husband spent 2 years as missionaries to New Guinea in the late 1970’s. In 1980 they entered Rhema Bible Training Center. Upon graduation they volunteered in David Ingles Ministries. In 2000 they moved to Oxford, Michigan to be a part of a church planted by their youngest son.
Louise was preceded in death by Edwin’s passing on August 20, 2005. Louise passed away on October 3, 2014. She will be remembered by many people whose lives she touched and made better.
She is survived by sons, Paul of Atlanta, Georgia and Larry of Oxford, Michigan; and daughter, Diane Cline of Lawrenceville, Georgia; grandchildren, Heidi, Laura, Cynthia, Chris, Kimberly, Timothy, David, Daniel and Jessica; and great grandchildren Nichole, Giovani, Ethan, Graham, Zachary, Sidney, Clayton, Ariel, Isabella, Eloise, Ella, Lucas and Jacob.
Funeral from Christ the King Church, 1550 W. Drahner Rd, Oxford, Friday, October 10, 2014 at 11 AM with visitation beginning at the church at 10 AM. A luncheon will follow at the church immediately following the funeral. Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, Thursday, October 9th from 3-8 PM. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse.
