Leonard Ronald Sebesta
9/15/1938 – 11/7/2020
Ron passed away on November 7th, at age 82, during a very challenging time in 2020 due to a global pandemic and contentious election year. Ron is survived by his wife, Donna, his sister, Esther, and his two daughters, Kimberly and Laura, and one granddaughter, Madeline. Ron was a loving father and provider to his family, and will be remembered fondly for his strong principles, love of nature, and his feisty spirit. Ron saw his two daughters graduate from college, the first in his family history, and move on to lead their own successful careers in no small part due to Ron’s support.
Ron was born on September 15th, 1938 in Detroit Michigan, son of Lloyd and Betty Sebesta. He attended Cass Technical High School and was drafted into the Army at age 23. He was assigned to the 570th Military Police of the 4th Transportation Command, tasked with maintaining security for passengers and goods aboard rail transport in Germany. He was honorably discharged after he satisfied his two-year obligation.
Ron went on to work at the Chrysler foundry and then transferred to General Dynamics tank plant in Sterling Heights. He retired early at the age of 54 having worked as a tool designer and draftsman.
Ron married Donna on August 12th, 1966, who raised two daughters, Kimberly and Laura. When not working, Ron supported his family through taking care of the house, yard, and supporting his daughter’s activities. Ron enjoyed traveling with the family visiting nearly all of the U.S. states, Canada, and a few trips to Europe. Ron enjoyed nature walks, watching the herons at local parks, and televised sports.
Ron will be celebrated in a small ceremony with immediate family memories due to COVID and will follow with a remembrance once larger gatherings can take place.
