Joyce Gail Fader, age 76, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, October 9th, 2020 surrounded by family at the Beaumont Hospital in Troy Michigan.
Joyce was born in Waukegan, Illinois on June 29, 1944 to the late Floyd and Helen Lewis. She was a high school graduate of Antioch High School.
Shortly after graduation Joyce married the love of her life, Gary Fader. Although childhood friends, Gary and Joyce joined in marriage on August 24, 1962 making the commitment to “Have This Dance for the Rest of Their Lives.” Together they lived in five different states following career advancements and opportunities. Joyce was passionate in her responsibilities to find a home, integrate her family into the community, and entertained Corporate functions within their family home. In 1985 Joyce and Gary would make their final move to Rochester Hills, Michigan and then Oxford, Michigan where they chose to retire close to their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Among her interests, Joyce enjoyed reading, crocheting, collecting Hummel’s, cooking, decorating and preparing for holidays and family functions. She and Gary enjoyed Broadway theater, date-night at the movies, international travel, cruises, but relished most the family vacations that included historical sights, theme parks, and treasured time with extended family. Simply stated Joyce’s life revolved around her adored husband Gary and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband of 57 years, Gary Fader; their treasured children Gary Fader (Theresa Lomonaco), Phillip (Shelby) Fader, Patricia (Robert) Smith, and Scott (Sarah) Fader; Grandchildren Amanda (Ryan) Piszczek, Danny Fader (Danielle Sellner), Kylie, Megan, Jordan and Diego Fader, as well as, Elizabeth Lohr and Dennis Smith; Great Grandchildren, Alessandra, Jayden, Brooke, Savannah, Addie, Daniel and Braylon; along with Brothers Ronald Lewis, William (Sharon) Lewis, Joseph (Patricia) Lewis; Sister Diane (Peter) Reitz, Sister in Laws Virginia (Wayne) Good, Luann Axtell, and Marian Merk, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
Joyce was proceeded in death by her parents Floyd and Helen Lewis, Father and Mother In Law Darrel and Rachel Merk as well as Father in Law Gail Fader; Brother Lee Lewis; Sister Darlene O’Neal, Brother in Laws Walter Fader, Robert Axtell and Robert O’Neal, and Sister in Law Anne Lewis.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Beaumont Hospital - Troy Campus. Their empathy and compassion will be forever remembered. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorials be given to either St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Michigan Humane Society. Both are treasured organizations for both Joyce and Gary.
Due to COVID-19, the immediate family will gather in memory of Joyce, with plans to celebrate her life with friends and family at a later date.
