Obituary for John Richard Camiller

John Richard "Rich" Camiller, age 76 of Gibraltar, MI passed away on February 13, 2021 surrounded by his family. “Rich” had a health issue that he had been battling for some time. He was born and raised in Detroit but resided in Gibraltar for 40 years. His mother Ann raised 3 young boys on her own after their father’s passing. He retired from General Motors at age 53, after 33 yrs. of employment. He loved to fish, attend Saturday Mass, play dice at the casino, take road trips, vacation, watch movies, play chess, bike ride, play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, watch Jeopardy, frequent the Friday visits to the IHOP restaurant, listen to the bible, enjoyed politics and court room law, listened to his doo-wop music and was a huge Detroit Tiger Fan. He took an interest in owning hot rod cars over the years. But most of all, he was a doting father and Papa and was his grandson’s playmates. He missed his mother, whom he was close to. Praise the Lord they are reunited again.

Rich is survived by his only child Sherene (Bruce) Parris, grandson’s Kaleb and Seth, his brother Bernie Camiller. Preceded in death by his Mother Ann, Father Frank, brother Vinnie, and his wife Joyce.

A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 715 N. Lapeer Rd, Lake Orion on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 11 AM with visitation beginning at the church at 10:30 AM. The mass will also be live streamed on the St. Joseph Catholic Church Youtube channel (search "St. Joseph Catholic Church Lake Orion" on the Youtube website to find the stream).

***Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to try to adhere to social distancing guidelines, the visitation time at the church will be structured differently than pre-pandemic gathering times. St. Joseph Catholic Church requires the use of a face mask to enter the church. During non-pandemic times, the half hour of visitation would be used as a time to gather and visit with one another. To avoid large group gatherings within the church, we are inviting people as they enter the church to have the opportunity to approach the casket and pay your final respects, and then we would ask that those people who are staying for the funeral mass please go into the sanctuary to be seated in the designated ares that are open. We want to avoid groups of people congregating in the lobby area as would be customary. Also, at approximately 10:50 AM, the family will begin the process of paying their final respects, so we would strongly encourage that those people who would like to pass by the casket arrive before 10:45 AM.
