John Frederick Ojala Jr., born November 27, 1940 in Sault Ste. Marie, died October 16, 2021. John left us early to make sure the path was safe for his beloved wife Patricia, whom he saw would also be leaving in a short time.
John graduated from Michigan State University and received his officer commission in the Army National Guard. He did well in his chosen profession of advertising at Dow Chemical, Sperry Vicker and finished his career at Brewer & Associates as President then Owner.
John really excelled at life! He was a musician, published author, poet, athlete and fly fisherman. His mayfly imitations are coveted by in-the-know fisherman on the Au Sable River system and the fish there will be gladder there are fewer of them attached to our lines.
John’s excellence in his pursuits were pale in comparison to his excellence in his daily dealings with all people who were fortunate enough to encounter him. John’s kind words, humor and wisdom lifted all around him and inspired many to heights and dreams they once thought impossible.
John was preceded in death by his mother Lucille Ojala, father John Ojala, sister Mary (Pecan), son Michael, grandson Ian Forster and many great friends and loving relatives. John is survived by his sister Kay, brother Robert (Adeline), sister Eleanor (John), son Scott (Jennifer), daughter Kerry, and beloved grandchildren Tanner, Rilynn, Casey and many cousins, nephews and nieces
