John David Sutphin age 84 passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at his home in Lakeville, Michigan. Preceded in death by Father Hal, Mother Blanche, Brother Eugene, and Sister Ellabelle. John is survived by his lifelong loving wife of 63 years, Joyce, sons John (Karen), Scott (Kelly), and Kirk (Holli). Grandchildren Kyle, Stacey (Lee), Kim, and Tiara. Great Grandchild Logan Ray.
He was born in Roseville, Michigan January 18, 1935. A Michigan native his entire life, John enjoyed working on his farm, long walks with the dogs, challenging conversation, his community service, and riding his motorcycle.
John retired from Michigan Bell Telephone on December 11, 1989 after 40 years’ service. Active in the community, he worked on starting N.O.T.A, was chairman of Addison Township Police & Fire Board for 20 years, an elected township trustee for 16 years, worked on the development and was a ranger, for the Addison Township Watershed Preserve.
Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 11 AM-2PM with a funeral service at 2 PM. Chaplain Dave Gerber will be officiating.
Memorials in John's memory may be made to the Wounder Warriors Project or Alzheimer's Association.
