Obituary for Jean Ellen Jorgensen

Jean Ellen Jorgensen, age 82 of Oxford and formerly of Detroit, went Home to be with the Lord May 15, 2013. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Evald Jorgensen; her sons Dean Joseph Jorgensen and Michael Glenn Jorgensen; and her grandson Dean Joseph Jorgensen Jr.

Jean is survived by her loving children John Edward Jorgensen, Susan Jean (Tommy) Greenlee, Gregory Allen Jorgensen, Barry Daniel Jorgensen, Ellen Marie (Charles) Devlin and Mary Ann Fountaine. She is also survived by her grandchildren Pandora, Jenny, Kyle, Andraya, Michael, Crystal, Kirsten, Ian, Erin, Charley, Beth and Robbie; and her great-grandchildren Jimmy, Megan, Hunter, Gabriella, Taylor and Nevaeh.

Jean was a former secretary and treasurer and was very active in the Oxford Senior Center. She was very fond of Bingo and playing cards, especially Michigan Rummy. She was devoted to her family, and often showed her affection through her cooking, which was regarded as more than just an activity, but a part of the process in making you who you were through her food. She was well known for her hot coco and for pizza nights as well.

A funeral mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 715 N. Lapeer Rd, Lake Orion, Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 10 AM. Family and friends may gather at the church beginning at 9 AM. Father Michael Verschaeve officiating. Interment at Assumption Grotto in Detroit. A luncheon will take place at the church immediately following the mass.

Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, Friday, May 17th from 3-8 PM with a rosary at 7 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to McLaren Hospice.
