each stage of the grieving process.
James “Jim” Ira Kanatzar, age 81 of Davison, passed away September 17, 2017. He was born in Lexington, KY on March 3, 1936 to the late Alfred Wayne and Alma June Kanatzar. On November 28, 2016 Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years and the love of his life, Ann Kanatzar. Jim and Ann had an incredibly strong faith in God, Heaven has now gained another angel. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who was loved very much and will be missed. “Our sadness is overwhelming but our comfort comes from knowing that he is with the Lord and with his wife Ann once again.”
Jim was very proud to be a veteran and to have served his country in Korea for the United States Army. He had an enormous smile and was so sweet to everyone he knew, lighting up the room wherever he was. He was very generous and would give up his last dime to help someone. He was a great singer and regularly sang to his family. Jim loved playing golf, watching old black and white movies, especially Casablanca which was his favorite; watching the Detroit Tigers, Fox news, talking politics and feeding the birds. Most of all Jim loved spending time with his family that he loved so dearly, especially his grand babies, and they loved him equally as much.
Jim is survived by his daughters Anita (Ricky) Smith and Kari Ellis; grandchildren Jolena (Andrew), Stacy (Jason), April, Aaron, Nathan, Alicia (Jeremy) and Tiffany; great grandchildren Bella, Ariel, and Ethan; brothers Fred and Rick (Nancy) Kanatzar; also several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his sister Donna; son-in-law Marshall Ellis.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 20th at 1:00 pm at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home in Oxford. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
