Obituary for James F. Thomas
James Frederick Thomas, of Oxford, passed away December 8, 2015. He was 73 years old.
Loving husband of Jo Ann; father of Darrin (Lisa) Thomas; devoted Papa of Kennedi and Kyle Thomas. Survived by his mother, Beatrice; three younger brothers: Dennis (Denise) Thomas, Michael (Patricia) Thomas, Steven (Cheryl) Thomas; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert.
Jim worked in the General Motors finance department for 36 years. In later years, he and Jo Ann made their winter home in Winter Haven, FL where they enjoyed sunshine, card games, and eating out. He was a dedicated spectator at his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a fan of Detroit Tigers baseball and MSU Spartan sports. Jim was an avid duck decoy and John Deere toy tractor collector. He enjoyed reading and learning about history.
Visitation will take place Friday, December 11th from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11 AM (visitation beginning at 10 AM) at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford. Reverend Rik Cryderman will be officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dryden, MI. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
