GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Be the first to share your favorite memory, photo or story of Jake. This memorial page is dedicated for family, friends and future generations to celebrate the life of their loved one.
We ask on behalf of the family that you keep your comments uplifting and appropriate to help all who come here to find comfort and healing.
Jake Martin, age 71 of Oxford, July 27, 1949-October 23, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Marie (Carey) Martin.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Donna; his loving children Matt (Malissa) Martin, Ryan Martin and Nick Martin; grandchildren Toby and Brendan Martin; sisters Sandy Shadley and Kathi (Larry) Rose; brothers Mike (Barb) Martin, Russ Martin and Tom (Kim) Martin; his beloved aunt Shirley Martin, and by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jake proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army and was also a grateful and humble member of A.A. At his core, Jake was a person who desired to help people in any way he could. He was mechanically inclined and spent much time fixing all types of items, including engines on things from weed whackers to cars. If he could not fix it, it was probably junk. When he wasn't helping people, Jake would likely be found working in his yard, hunting or fishing. He was a simple man who loved his family and friends.
Due to the current restrictions on social gatherings, a visitation in the traditional sense where people would gather together and visit for long periods of time is not permitted. However, it is important to Jake's family that there is an opportunity for family and friends to enter the funeral home briefly and pay their final respects. With that in mind, visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 4-8 PM. Be advised that no more than 20 people are allowed in the funeral home at a time, so we would encourage your time paying your respects be kept brief. Masks are required and please practice social distancing.
A graveside service with military honors will take place at Christian Memorial Gardens West, 521 E. Hamlin Rd, Rochester Hills on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
