Obituary for Helen Beatrice Binger

Helen Beatrice Binger was born on Lakeville Road in Addison Township on January 5, 1920 to Eber and Mary (Arnold) Baza. A lifelong resident of Addison Township and devoted member of Addison Township Community Church; Helen's Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called her home on March 25, 2011, 23 years to the day that her late husband Robert Binger was called home.

Loving mother of Margaret (Gary) Rhew and Mary Frost (Jim Woon). Cherished grandmother of Rebekah (Doug) Thompson, Julie Rhew, Amy (Seth) Hildebrand, Jamie (Matt) Roberts and Daniel Frost. Adored great-grandmother of William (Stephanie) Thompson, Michael Thompson, Jessica Thompson, Samuel Thompson and Hayden Roberts. Reunited in Glory with great-granddaughter Ashley Frost.

Helen was raised on the family farm on the corner of Hosner and Lakeville Road. She attended the Arnold one room school house on that same corner until the 8th grade. Helen then finished her studies at Oxford High School, where she graduated in Oxford's High School's inaugural National Honor Society class in 1937. She was chosen as a driver in the Junior-Senior Motor Run. Helen worked as an upstairs maid and at the Lakeville Lake Bath house. She attended the 1939 World's Fair in New York City. Helen became Mrs. Robert Binger in July 1944 while he was on leave from the U.S. Army. While Robert served in Italy and France, Helen worked as a bookkeeper in Pontiac.

Helen and Robert built the house that they raised their girls in, and would spend the rest of their lives in, next to the family farm. Helen was a lifelong member of Addison Township Community Church, serving over the years as trustee, treasurer, clerk and Sunday school teacher. During her 23 years widowed, Helen became a local and family historian leaving a documented family history for future generations. Helen was also a member of the Lakeville Cemetery Auxiliary.

Funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors Bossardet Chapel, Oxford Monday March 28, 2011 at 11 AM. Friends may visit Sunday March 27, 2011 from 3-8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Lakeville Cemetery Auxiliary P.O. Box 70, Leonard, MI 48367 or to the American Diabetes Association
