Obituary for Harry Currin Seavey

Harry 'Red' Seavey, (CV the CB) proud WWII veteran and family man, passed away at his home in Leonard, Michigan on July 15, 2015. He was 90 years old.

Mr. Seavey was born on his grandparents farm in Franklin Village in 1925 and grew up in Keego Harbor where he attended Roosevelt High School. Before he could complete school WWll broke out and he enlisted on August 8, 1943.

During the war Mr. Seavey was a member of the Fighting Seabees and the 130th Naval Construction Battalion. He served in the Pacific theater on the islands of Oahu, Saipan and Okinawa. While on Saipan, Mr. Seavey trained with the 2nd Marine Division in preparation for the battle of Okinawa. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946.

After returning from the war, Mr. Seavey went back to Roosevelt High School to finish his Senior year. While at school he met the love of his life, Ms. Corrine Flintotf. They began to date after she asked him to accompany her to a 'Sadie Hawkins' dance.

Red and Connie were married on June, 28 1948 and had 2 children.

After graduation Mr. Seavey attended Wayne State to become a Journeymen Electrician and worked for the City of Pontiac. He was also an Electrical Contractor. Later Mr. Seavey became a Master Electrician and was the Electrical Inspector for Addison and Oxford Townships. He was also an Electrician for GM and worked at Truck and Bus for 18 years. He also ran a 10 acre farm on his property in Leonard.

Mr. Seavey was always proud to be a WWII vet and liked to tell people about his time oversees. He also enjoyed working on his farm, driving his John Deere and spending time traveling with his family.

Being a Christian man he served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher, Mission Board Member, Deacon and Door Greeter at his church.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Connie, his daughter Anna, son Kurt, grandsons Ken, Kris and Klayt Seavey and granddaughter Adrianne LeMieux.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Crossroads Baptist Church, 6835 Weyer Rd., Imlay City MI 48444, on Saturday July 25th, with family greeting friends at 11 a.m., service to follow. Internment at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI on Monday the 27th at 12:30.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mission Boards of Crossroads Baptist Church in Imlay City and/or Oakwood Community Church in Ortonville MI.

Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Oxford, MI.
