Obituary for Glenda Louise Bizzotto

Glenda Louise Bizzotto passed into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2015.

Born March 14, 1958 in Akron Ohio to loving parents Robert (Bill) and Norma Jean Mayfield, Glenda was the spunky middle child, sandwiched between older sisters Kathie (Russ) and Edie (Kevin) and younger siblings Sid and Nola. She loved her niece and nephews Liz (Jake), Peter (Maria), Joshua and Justin.

A graduate of Manchester High School in Akron, Glenda spent a summer abroad in Japan, which sparked a life-long penchant for traveling. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Ohio State University, using her education to embark upon many new adventures, including a stretch of time working on a mining project in Montana. She would later work toward her teaching certificate and completed her student teaching in high school math and physics classes—a pursuit she treasured.

Glenda exchanged her surname Mayfield for Bizzotto on October 17, 1987 in her 20-year marriage to Dennis Bizzotto. The couple settled down in Leonard, Michigan, where their three children Danielle (1989), Jenifer (1991), and Anthony (1994) were born. She valued being a stay-at-home parent, later pursuing a career in real estate.

Glenda celebrated music, playing at the piano and inspiring that love in those around her. She was a talented quilter and avid reader. Her competitive spirit resulted in stimulating games of Scrabble and late-night card games with her children. Her latest projects included parenting and traveling the world. She was so proud of the children she helped raise, and aspired to become a foster parent. Full of vigor and enthusiasm despite the obstacles her health presented, she was in the midst of planning a trip to China with her best friend Kalyn. Glenda leaves behind a legacy of love, determination, and forgiveness.

Funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2 PM. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 12 noon.
