Elijah O. "Butch" Childers, age 79 of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away Friday December 7, 2012 at his home following a lingering illness with his family at his side. He was born in Drakes borough, Kentucky to the late James & Ethel Pearl (McNeily) Childers. Butch served his country in the U. S. Air Force and was retired for GM Truck & Coach Plant 2. He enjoyed the out of doors, hunting and especially fishing.
He is survived by his wife the former Nona Lintz whom he married August 10, 1963 in Faith Baptist Church, Drayton Plains, Michigan. Children Gary & Michele Skelton, Gregory Childers and Glenn Childers; 2 grand daughters Sarah & Melissa Skelton; 2 sisters Charlotte & Ron Soncrainte and Sue Meyer. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers James “Jimmy”, Robert and William “Joe” Childers.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 1 pm from Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors 39 W. Burdick, Oxford with Pastor John T. Field presiding. Burial with Military Honors in West Deerfield Cemetery. Friends may call at Sisson Funeral Home 135 Silverleaf, Gladwin on Monday from 3 to 8 pm, Tuesday at Lynch & Sons from 3-5 and 7-9 and Wednesday 12 to time of services. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Visiting Nurses.
