Obituary for Deborah Lynn Meyer

Deborah L. “Debbie” Meyer, 62, of Elmhurst, died Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan after a short illness.
Born January 18, 1955, in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Dorothy and Vincent Jankauskas.

Debbie dedicated her life to others, always eager to help in any way she could. She was a very humble woman who lived to make people happy, whether family, a friend, or a stranger. She judged no one, and accepted everyone for who they were. Debbie gave everything she had, and when she had nothing, she gave more.

An active member of Faith Church in Rochester Hills, Michigan and a Deacon at Elmhurst Presbyterian Church prior to her move to Michigan, Debbie devoted her life to God. She taught Bible school, helped out in the nursery, and brought food to those in need.

Debbie most enjoyed spending time and making memories with family and friends. She was a loving and supporting wife, mother and sister, and with her warm heart and open mind touched countless lives throughout the years. She loved to read, listen to music, and was also known as an amazing cook, although she refused to accept any praise for her culinary talents or for any of the wonderful things she did for people. A lover of all God's creatures, Debbie was always willing to care for animals in need.

She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Kenneth. She is also survived by two wonderful children, her son Ezra and fiancée Brooke Fiore, and her daughter Rachel Thatcher and husband Chris. Debbie was blessed with a grandson, Christian Thatcher; her family is grateful they were able to spend so much time together. Other surviving relatives include her sisters Mary Ann Stoppini and husband Francesco, and Nancy Reeves and husband Tim, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A memorial service will be held in Michigan on January 4, from 6-8 pm at Faith Church in Rochester Hills. A memorial service will also be held in Pennsylvania on January 20, at 11 am at Elmhurst Presbyterian Church in Elmhurst. There will be a luncheon after the service in the adjacent education building.
