Obituary for Curtis Alan Wright

Curtis Alan Wright, 73 of Oxford, MI (formerly from Oakwood, Virginia) born July 6, 1943 and passed away, Tuesday, November 22, 2016 after a long hard battle with bladder cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Donna, of 51 years, his daughter Heidi Karakashian, son in law James Karakashian, granddaughter Madison Karakashian, grandson Carson Karakashian, siblings; Shirley Harmon, Vivian Keen, Sue Durette, Sharon Johnson, Shelia Horn, Vandi Montero, Cynthia Harrell, and Steve Wright. Proceed in death by son Shane, brother Roy, sister Clydia, mother Lillian and father Clyde.

Curtis served 4 years in the Air Force from 1962-1966 which brought him to Michigan where he met his wife, Donna. After the Air Force he went to work as an automotive designer for Ford and several other auto design shops. Then Curtis started his own site development business in the 70’s and continued in this field until his passion for golf and his artistic talents lead him to design and develop Copper Hills Golf Club, a 27-hole championship golf course for which he won many awards.

In his personal life his true passions were golf, painting and being in nature. He also enjoyed traveling in the winter to his favorite place Ixtapa, Mexico.
He will be greatly missed by family, friends, employees and customers.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Christ the King Church, 1550 W. Drahner Rd, Oxford on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 11 AM with visitation beginning at the church at 10 AM. Pastor Bob Holt officiating. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery, Oxford. Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, Sunday, November 27th from 3-8 PM with a service at 6:30 when people can share memories of Curtis. Memorials may be made to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (
