Obituary for Constance Marie Duke

Constance Marie (Misenar) Duke, age 71, passed Tuesday, May 1st quietly at home in Munising, Mi. with family at her side. She was born, April 3rd, 1941 in Detroit, the daughter of Leo and Ida Mae Misenar, long-time Oxford residents. Connie graduated from Oxford High School in June 1959 and promptly joined the U.S. Navy. She proudly served our country for seven years, and met the love of her life. After a two-week courtship, Connie married James W. Duke and on December 16th, 2011 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Connie was actively involved in family genealogy since she was in high school. She has traced our family history as far back as the 1400’s. Another love of Connie’s was snowmobiling. She was a life member of the Michigan Snowmobile Association and the Snomads Snofari Club. She participated for twenty-three years in the “For Woman Only” snowmobile charity ride for Easter seals. She was Past Worthy Matron several times of Orion Fellowship Chapter No. 340 Order of the Eastern Star.

In death she joins her parents, brothers Conrad and Craig (Mari) and son James Kevin. She leaves behind her husband, daughters Kimberly of Fresno, CA, Judi (John) of Palm Harbor, FL, and Karyn (Tim) of Munising, MI, ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild. She also leaves her brothers Wayne (Margaret) Misenar of Jacksonville, FL, Cary (Margaret) Misenar of Clarkston, MI, a sister Cathy Misenar, of Redlands, CA.

Funeral services will be at Lynch & Son’s Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick St. Oxford, MI. Friends may visit from 3pm - 8pm on Monday May 7th. The service will be at 11am on Tuesday May 8th.
