Obituary for Carol Avis Roe

Carol Avis Roe passed away at home on 20 April 2009. She had been ill for sometime. Because of her firm belief that babies should never be killed she started the Michigan Right To Life Organization then handed it off after the successful election for others to run. She was a member of the Davison Parent Teachers organization where she helped initiate the steps for approval by the Michigan Department of Health, to get scoliosis screening for pre school children through first grade by the PTA. She was born to Chester and Adra (Dolloff) Barton in Alma, MI on 7 February 1934. She was the third child. Her brother, Larry Donald and her sister Shirley Ann were born before her. She attended schools in Lansing and worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company where she met and married George E. Roe on 10 January 1959 in Lansing, MI. She has three children, Andra Lynn (Curt) Hagensen, Flint, MI, James V. Roe, Salt Lake, UT and Lisa Marie Roe, Alma, MI. She has five wonderful grandchildren, Dawn L. (Jeffrey) Carlson, Laura M. (Mark) Leplow, April M. (James) Diekman, Melissa N. (Kevin) Lynch, and Kristina N. Hagensen. She has eight beautiful great grandchildren, Tiffany, Brittany, Jessica, David, Krystina, Joshua, Ryan and Collin. Her mother, father, brother and sister and granddaughter Kristina Nicole Hagensen preceded her in death. A Memorial service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel (542 Liberty Park, Lapeer Michigan 48446) on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 4:00 PM. Friends may visit on Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 2 - 4 PM. Donations can be made to her favorite charities, The American Cancer Society or Leader Dog for the Blind.
