GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Brian Grant Farrell was born March 5, 1954 to Jack A. Farrell and Marjorie (Aiken) Farrell. Brian passed away surrounded by his family at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor due to complications after a valiant fight with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
He graduated from Oxford High School in 1972 and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served our country for four years. Following his enlistment he married Janis Fritch on August 6, 1977. Janis and Brian both grew up in Oxford and have lived here most of their married lives. They have been married for 41 1/2 years. Brian was a member of the Oxford Fire Department for 5 years during the 70's and 80's. They were happily blessed with two children; Jenny and Grant have given them six grandchildren between them. A little over a year ago Brian and Janis made the decision to move north to St. Helen Michigan which has been a favorite place for their family for many years. They purchased their dream retirement home and they looked forward to their kids and grandkids camping, riding dune buggies, and enjoying the nearby lake and the campfire together.
During his life Brian worked at jobs in local foundries but eventually found his passion in woodworking and construction. He was passionate about natural unfinished wood and used that passion in every project he created. A passion he was able to turn into a business of his own where he used his skills to remodel others home making their dreams come true as well. Brian enjoyed golfing, hunting, and just being in his garage with his friends and family.
Brian's first love has always been his wife. Janis has always been very devoted and strong. She lived life by his side through every journey. He loved being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, friends and family. When it came to his children he could not have been a prouder Dad, Daddy or Papa, his comment was ALWAYS "we did good!"
He is survived by his loving wife Janis, daughter Jenny Farrell Dudley, son-in-law David Dudley, son Grant Farrell, daughter-in-law Jeni (Woodworth) Farrell, and his six grandchildren; Hunter Dudley, Haley Dudley, Rebecca Farrell, Ethan Farrell, Emma Dudley and Alana Dudley. He will also be greatly missed by his brother, Jack E. Farrell, sister-in-law Irene (Brady) Farrell, brother Al Farrell, sister-in-law Sharon (Husted Roop) Farrell, sister Chris (Farrell) Hoard, brother-in-law Tom Hoard; sister, sister-in-law Carrie Fritch, sister-in-law Frances Bivens, brother-in-law Everett Bivens, brother-in-law David Fritch, sister-in-law Wanda Fritch, brother-in-law Dan Fritch, sister-in-law Michele Fritch, brother-in-law Bill Fritch; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He will be welcomed into heaven by his parents, sister Bonnie (Farrell-Nauseda) Murray and brother-in-law Dennis Fritch.
The family has suggested donations in Brian's memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Association.
