Obituary for Brenda Duncan

Brenda Fern Duncan, 64, of Ortonville, went home to be with her Lord, in the early morning hours of May 17, 2016. Her last days were spent surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Brenda was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 23rd, 1952, one of eight children in a Christian home to Edward & Thelma York. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband Steven to whom she was married for over 45 years; her sons Steven Kent Duncan Jr, and wife Deborah of Davison, Ryan James Duncan, and wife Amy of Lapeer, and Daniel Wilfred Russel Coles, and wife Alecia of Roseville; grandchildren Riley, Jackson, Daisy, Ethan, Savanna, Dylan, Brennan, Madeline, and Abigail; brothers Donnie, Gary, Del, Jeff; and sister Bonnie. She now joins her parents and brothers Edward Jr., and Jim in Glory!

A graduate of Madison High School in 1970, she soon married her soulmate, and spent her early adulthood working in a law office, selling real estate, and growing her family. She later moved to Ortonville and spent many years working diligently for her brother Ed at Proto Craft in Warren, Madison Heights, Troy and Auburn Hills. Later in life she took a great deal of joy in driving a school bus for young children in Lapeer schools.

She was an antique enthusiast. A lover of music, dancing, and people. She prayed to, praised, and walked with Jesus. She adored camping, nature, and bird watching. She loved the fall colors, and the summer sunshine. She laughed fervently, chased dreams intently, and collected memories eternally. But above all, she loved her family. A love for her husband and boys to which there were no limits. A deep rooted affection for her parents, brothers, sister, nieces, and nephews. And an adoration for her grandchildren that will burn in their young hearts until they see her again.

LOVE. FAITH. FAMILY. That is her legacy. And that is what she will be remembered for.

Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, Friday, May 20, 2016 from 2-8 PM. The service will take place at the funeral home Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11 AM with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
