Obituary for Beverly Ann Craun

Beverly ("Bev") Ann Craun (Hartwick), born October 25, 1937, peacefully went home to her husband in Heaven on May 9, 2017. She was the beloved wife to Richard ("Dick") Craun and the loving mother to Russell Craun, Michele Craun, and Shari Barker (Keith). She was a doting and enthusiastic grandmother to Heidi Craun, Lathe Carrow (Britney), Michael Barker, Lauren Carrow Hendrick (Joshua), Cody Barker, and Dustin Carrow. She also had the great joy of being a great-grandmother to Aayden, Gage, and Emmitt Carrow. She is sorely missed by them all, along with her sisters-in-law and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Bev met Dick, the love of her life, when she was just 12 years old. After graduating from Avondale High School in Auburn Heights, she married Dick at 17 and immediately began preparing a home for their future family while awaiting his return from the Korean War. She was a manager at and retired from L&S Grocery in Lake Orion, where she made many lifelong friends and was occasionally found doing backflips down the aisles. She enjoyed puzzles, bowling, camping, playing cards, cooking, reading, and nearly every episode of Wheel of Fortune. Bev loved going to church, always had the perfect story to tell, and was known to dance on tables at weddings. Most of all, she was a caregiver. She nursed many loved ones into renewed life as well as peaceful death. She exemplified what it is to love unconditionally, live selflessly, and give generously. She lived each day for her kids and grandkids; they were her purpose and joy, and the light she instilled in them cannot be dimmed.

Bev was preceded in death by her husband, her parents Basil and Lucille Hartwick, and her sister, JoAnn Hartwick Zemke.

The family will gather and share stories with loved ones at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors in Oxford on May 11th from 4–7pm. There will also be a celebration of Bev's life at a memorial service at Great Lakes National Cemetery; 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442 on Monday, May 15th at 11am.
