Obituary for Arthur Morgan

Born February 22, 1939 in Alpena, MI, Arthur Donald “Don” Morgan was a beloved husband, father, and Papa. He was preceded in death by mother Dorothy, father Arthur, brothers James and Harry, and son David. He is survived by wife Sharon, daughters Debbie Benton (William), DeAnna O’Neill (Michael), and granddaughters Mikayla, Theresa, and Kassidie. Also survived by his brothers Russell and Roger Morgan, Fred and Randy Mallette, and sisters Marion & Penny.

A member of the US National Guard (1959-1961) and Army (1961-1963), Don was stationed in Texas, Georgia, and Missouri before eventually settling in Roseville, MI with his wife Sharon, whom he married in 1959. He worked for Chrysler for 37 years and proudly earned his diploma in 1991. A lover of animals, he was never quite able to find a deer whenever he went hunting, and happily shared his love of fishing with all his girls. He was known by all as a quiet, gentle man who loved fiercely and never missed the opportunity make a wisecrack.

Don passed peacefully on February 11, 2022 at the age of 82 surrounded by his daughters and granddaughters in Oxford, MI after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Alpena, MI with his family after services on Thursday, February 17. His family asks that donations in his name be made to K9 Stray Rescue League in Oxford.

Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 2-7 PM.

Visitation will take place at McWilliams Funeral Home on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 1:00 PM until the time of funeral service at 3:00 PM. Military honors will be accorded by VFW Post 2496 and the United States Army. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
