Alexander Harry McWain of Oxford MI, formerly of WA, formerly of Muskegon MI, passed away August 5, 2017 after a battle with cancer and dementia from several strokes. He was 69. A graduate of Orchard View High school, class of 1967 in Muskegon, MI. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1970. He was a truck driver all of his life working for several companies within Muskegon and the state of Washington.
Alex (or Al as many called him) loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle to Lake Michigan and Sturgis S.D. as often as he could. He always had a Siamese cat by his side, usually naming them "H.D.". He loved football, playing for the Orchard View Cardnials in high school, and was an avid Detroit Lions and U of M fan. He also loved watching Detroit Tigers baseball.
He is survived by his children, Jody Bratton (McWain) married to Chuck Bratton, of Oxford, MI, Alexander J. McWain, married to Karey (Duff) McWain , 3 grandchildren Eric Giese and Katie Bratton of Oxford and Kaleb McWain. Sisters Louise Mitchell (Mark Sturm), Evelyn Singleton (Dover), Marcia Villanueva (Geno), Bette Rudat (Ted), brother David McWain (Felicia) and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews all of the Muskegon area. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Johanna (Tenhove) McWain and sister Judy Decheney.
Visitation will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 12-1 with a service beginning at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Helping Hands Hospice.
