Obituary for Albert "Lucky" Rogers

Albert "Lucky" Rogers of Oxford, on June 7, 2008, in his 84th year. Beloved husband of the late Shirley Margaret (Pyke) Rogers. Loved brother of Marie (Phillip)Buttram and Edith (Mark) Horn. Loved father of Judith (Alan) Weidemann; James (Kathie) Rogers; Joe (Melinda) Rogers; Jill (Dean) Rogus; honorary daughter, Kelly Muscarella and the late Joyce (Tom) Hawley. Loved grandfather of 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. As a young man, "Lucky" served in the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and then went on to serve his country in World War II.
In the late 1940's he worked as a mechanic on the Grand Trunk Railroad
(GTR). Throughout the 50's and early 60's he was a service station owner in Pontiac. During the 60's he was also an operating engineer(crane and large bulldozer) and then the superintendent of Building and Grounds at Kirk in the Hills. In the 70's Albert worked at St. Joseph's Hospital as a steam and
pipe fitter and then started the family business, Rogers Maintenance in
Detroit - maintaining homes throughout Lafayette Park and the
Surrounding area until his retirement in the late 90's. "Lucky" was a man who believed in second chances, and always looked for the good in everyone. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. We invite you to share our tears and joys in celebrating the life of Albert "Lucky" Rogers - a life well-lived. Funeral Service, Wednesday, June 11 at 1 p.m. at Lynch & Sons Bossardet Chapel, 39 W. Burdick Street, Oxford. Visitation Tuesday, June 10 from 2-8 PM and Wednesday from 11 AM until time of service. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
